Dismantled and re-arranged stovetop trivets, partially framed by steel tubes, form the structure of the work.

 

Shadows cast extend and confuse the reading of the form, like an Escher puzzle- they can defy recognition of what is positive and what is negative?

Wheredoes one start and the other finish?

The geometric lines mimic the ‘skeleton’ of the building defined by black beams, rails and steps, drawing them in to become part of the whole. 

The title breaks up the word ‘trivet’, displacing the object from identification of its original function, whilst still maintaining a reference to it.
